Mount Damavand (5609m), the highest point in Middle East and the highest volcano in Asia its just in 1 hour drive from Tehran. It needs just 5 to 6 hour flight from Europe.
Hiking to this high mountain is not so easy but if you have some training, it’s possible to do. There is a lot of alternative for acclimatization near Tehran also. so you could fly from see level, stay one or two night in Tehran(1200m-1800m), do a 4000m peak in this days then go to the big beauty Damavand peak. Normal route is so crowded in high season, so NE side is a little steeper but have much more fun. let’s try it…
Arrival to Tehran. Sightseeing in Teharn. Overnight in the local house around Tehran.
Climbing will be started at 3400m and finished at 4100m on a nice peak. Go to Nandal. Overnight in local house(2200m).
Drive to to Gardaneh-sar (3000m) by 4WD car (one hour) early in the morning. 4-5 hour trek up to the advanced camp at 4100m. Over night at tent
Acclimatization day. After a good night rest and sleep and a relaxed breakfast, team will climb 400-600m for acclimatization; returning to camp later that day.
Summit day. Team leave early in the morning for the summit. The trek takes between 7-10 hours depending on the pace. Overnight stay at the advanced camp.
Team come back down to the basecamp (3 hours). Hot spring water after summit could be fantastic. Drive back to Tehran. Overnight at hotel.
